The Planetfriendly Calendar began in 1998 as a weekly e-mail bulletin of green, environmental and sustainable events. By 2001 it had thousands of subscribers, and in 2002 the web calendar was first launched. In 2008 the Calendar was expanded, greatly improved and relaunched.

Also known as the People and Planet Calendar, it's a place where groups and organizations from across Canada can publicize their events free of charge. It used by a broad community of individuals, organizations and journalists from across Canada.

The purpose of the Calendar is to bring together people who want to create greener communities and a healthier world. By hearing inspiring speakers, attending practical workshops and mixing with like-minded people, more and more Canadians will choose to participate and take on the many positive and rewarding roles and tasks that need doing. By connecting people to real, local initiatives, we are helping stimulate the community, organizations and collaborations that are building a sustainable world.

The Calendar is also a tool for event organizers to learn from each other, find speakers and resources, reduce duplication of effort, and avoid scheduling conflicts.

Each year, the Calendar includes hundreds of Canadian green events, plus selected events from the USA and other countries. New listings are added daily. For green-minded Canadians of all backgrounds, it's a great way to learn, network and get involved.

The Calendar is a free service offered for the benefit of the community.
